On January 7, 2026, International Culture Federation (ICF) proudly supported and participated in a New Year Cultural Gathering in Markham that brought community members together through food, cultural exchange, and shared celebration.
This event was funded in part by the New Horizons for Seniors Program, reflecting a shared commitment to social inclusion, well-being, and healthy aging.

🍣 Cultural Exchange Through Food
A highlight of the afternoon was the Sushi Rice Balls Workshop, where participants of all backgrounds came together to learn simple food-preparation techniques in a relaxed and welcoming environment. The hands-on format encouraged cooperation, conversation, and cross-cultural interaction, turning cooking into a meaningful shared experience.
🎶 Community Expression & Connection
Following the workshop, participants enjoyed the food together and engaged in open conversation. Informal talent sharing, including singing and light performances, added warmth and cultural richness to the gathering, allowing individuals to express themselves and connect beyond language and age.
🎴 Welcoming the New Year Together
The event concluded with friendly New Year card games, offering a joyful and stress-free way for participants to socialize, reduce seasonal isolation, and strengthen community bonds during the winter months.
🌏 ICF’s Community Mission in Action
This gathering reflects ICF’s mission to foster cultural understanding, community participation, and social harmony through inclusive and accessible activities.
