Nourishing Connections to Combat Loneliness by Cooking

On Friday, December 12, 2025, International Culture Federation (ICF) proudly supported the Winter BBQ & Family Cooking Showcase, a joyful community gathering held at the Vaughan Woodbridge Senior Activity Centre.

Organized in collaboration with the Association of Certified Professional Nutritionists (ACPN), the event was part of the Nourishing Connections to Combat Loneliness by Cooking initiative—designed to strengthen social bonds, promote emotional well-being, and encourage healthy living through shared culinary experiences.

A Warm Afternoon of Food, Culture, and Connection

From 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, seniors, families, and community members gathered to enjoy a lively afternoon filled with laughter, movement, and delicious aromas. Participants shared and sampled winter comfort foods, including BBQ chicken wings, corn, and sweet potatoes, while exchanging cooking stories and family traditions.

Beyond cooking, the event featured cultural performances, group activities, and spontaneous moments of joy—highlighting how food and culture naturally bring people together. The room was filled with smiles, music, and meaningful conversations, reflecting the powerful role of community engagement in reducing social isolation.

Community Impact

This event demonstrated how culturally inclusive programs can foster connection, dignity, and happiness among seniors and families alike. ICF is honored to support initiatives that celebrate multicultural exchange while addressing real social needs such as loneliness and community well-being.

The International Culture Federation (ICF), in collaboration with the Association of Certified Professional Nutritionists (ACPN) and the Vaughan Woodbridge Senior Activity Centre, is delighted to present a warm and engaging winter community event — the Winter BBQ & Family Cooking Showcase.

This workshop is part of ICF’s ongoing mission to build cultural connection, promote community well-being, and support healthy living through interactive activities. Through the joy of preparing food together, participants can experience meaningful social engagement and celebrate delicious winter comfort dishes.

Attendees will enjoy hands-on preparation and tasting of BBQ chicken wings, roasted corn, baked sweet potatoes, and a friendly Family Cooking Showcase where community members share their favourite homemade dishes.

国际文化联合会（ICF）携手 加拿大注册执业营养师公会（ACPN） 及 旺市木桥活动中心，将于冬日举办一场温馨、互动、美味的社区活动 —— 冬日烧烤与家庭厨艺展示工作坊。

作为 ICF 推动社区文化交流、支持长者身心健康的重要项目之一，本次活动属于 “用烹饪连接彼此·缓解孤独” Nourishing Connections to Combat Loneliness by Cooking 系列。通过共同烹饪、分享食物与轻松交流，帮助长者增强社交互动、提升情绪健康，并体验家庭式烹饪的温暖与乐趣。

参与者将现场一起制作 烧烤鸡翅、烤玉米、烤红薯 等冬季暖心料理，并参与 家庭厨艺展示交流，分享各自的拿手家常菜。
